of vessels under 60 tons.

(3) Examination of candidates for local Engineers Certificates.

(4) Examination of plans of boilers

and machinery for new vessels under

60 tons.

(5) Tonnage and passenger measure-

ments of craft under 60 tons.

(1) Examination of all ships plans

of all new ships and craft building.

(2) Measurement or tonnage of all new ships building for British registry

and for transfer to British registry.

(3) Survey and inspection of all new

life boats building.

(4) Inclining vessels for stability. (5) Design of all new Government

draft.

(6) Survey of Hull, superstructure and equipment of new vessels building and the survey of deck gear and boats in passenger steamers.

(7) Examination and calculation for

free-board of steamers under Board

of Trade rule a.

The 2nd Assistant has now proceeded on leave and the 3rd Assistant has been detailed to perform his duties as at (0) thus leaving the 1st Assistant to carry out the duties as at

(B).

The possibility of his being able to do this efficiently single

handed
